Cleaning The Slate

 

Trying to wipe out mistakes
and bad choices.
Trying to clean the slate
so we can move on.

No matter how hard we try to
wipe the slate clean there is
always a residue left for us to see.
It might me hard to see but it's still
there.

Cleaning the slate and trying to
forget the pain we have caused
others and asking for their forgiveness.
Some are eager to forgive while others
are eager to keep us remembering.

Isn't it strange how much power one
person holds over another when it comes
to forgiving?
Sometimes I think people won't forgive
because they think it's a sign of weakness.
Others might feel they didn't really have
something to forgive in the first place.

Wiping the slate clean is wonderful but
it can be more wonderful if others help you.
Do I make sense? Probably not.
